Kupe Is Worth The Extra Dollar

We started our journey back to Baku on Tuesday.  After a short minibus ride, we explored the nearby town of Lankaran.  There were some interesting monuments and such, but not much shaking in this sleepy town.  We did get a chance to walk around a bit a see the place during the afternoon.  Checking at the train station for seats to Baku, we found there were no kupe seats left...only platskart.   It was a manat cheaper and we needed to get to Baku, so we figured why not?  Boarding the train in the evening, we arrived at our seats only to find an open bedding system full of luggage and people in the wrong places.  We were able to secure enough room to stow our gear and claim spots to sleep.  Sleep was a bit light with people touching us all night and digging under our bunks and being generally loud.  We did meet some interesting and helpful people along the way, and enjoyed our time overall in this strange little community of fellow travellers.  The train arrived in Baku early Wednesday morning, and we are off on our adventures for the day.  We have several day trips planned for the Baku area over the next few days.  We will see what excitement awaits.
