A North African Trek
Monday, 28 November, my friends and I begin an adventure across North Africa from Morocco to Egypt. Our plans also include visits to Algeria, Tunisia, and hopefully Libya along the way from west to east. Our schedule is to leave New York City on Monday, arrive in Casablanca on Tuesday morning, and stay for a few days to see the sites. We are then scheduled to take a short flight to Algiers on 3 December to spend time there. We originally planned to travel overland for the entire journey, but were forced to fly into Algeria due to the border being closed with Morocco. We should be able to travel by bus or other public transport to Tunis, where we will hopefully enjoy some time along the coast of Tunisia. Our plans next lead us to Libya, where we have yet to obtain visas for travel. It is not from a lack of trying that the visas have eluded us, so we will continue our efforts once we arrive in Morocco. Hopefully something will work out, and we will be able to enjoy time in Tripoli. Our final country of travel is Egypt, where we hope to visit Alexandria and to spend time in and around Cairo. We return 21 December. There is so much to see in the short time we have. This should be a full and rewarding time for us.
